At Twilight Milongas we organise a range of Argentine Tango Dance Events, classes, and Practilongas in Hertfordshire.
Our aim is to ensure dancers, ALL dancers, have a relaxed and enjoyable time, listening and dancing to Argentine Tango music, vals and milongas.
Due to the fear of Covid-19 spreading, we have brought in new procedures on putting on events.
We wish for everyone to enjoy themselves, whether their personalities are introvert or extrovert! Remember, not everyone is the same. We only ask you to come with RESPECT for everyone, the music, the floor, yourself, your partner.
You can support this ethos by coming to our Dance with a good attitude and a positive hope for the event. You can also help by letting the outer line of dance flow freely, without dancers overtaking or stepping back into the line of dance. Please try to avoid walking on the actual dance floor if you are not dancing, whilst the music is playing! Music - Traditional Argentine Tango, milonga & vals music, from the "golden era" , played in tandas with cortinas by specialist DJ Pat Nolan - and respected licensed Argentine Tango DJs.

As event organisers we carry out Risk assessments to identify any hazards of carrying out activities, within any of our venues, taking account of our dancers profile. Once we identify these hazards we mitigate through actions, and communicate these actions to appropriate people. These actions can be anything from removing, limiting, informing, training etc.
One hazard is COVID-19. Below are the particular hazards identified with COVID-19, with the mitigating actions we have in place to minimize the hazard. And possible further actions once the infection rates drop.
1. We are asking anybody who is showing COVID-19 symptoms, or has been asked to self-isolate, to REFRAIN from attending any of our events. We will regularly remind you that if you have any of the symptoms (continuous cough, runny nose, sneezing, heavy cold, high temperature, a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste etc).that you must not attend any of our events. For dancers who have booked and paid for an event in advance, we will credit you an entry price if you inform us before our event has taken place.
2. Our Attendance policy and practices are:
Proof of double jabs. Either a photo of your blue vaccination cards or dancers can show their vaccine status by use of the NHS app - https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/covid-pass/

A negative result shown on a Lateral Flow Test, to be carried out by dancers in the 24 hours prior any of our events. The results should be photographed and sent to gina@twilightmilongas.co.uk or brought along to the event or be shown on your NHS APP
No "open door policy". All dancers need to book, and pay, in advance. This is for us to manage crowd density (hall size and capacity) as dancing as an activity, especially inside a building, has been identified as bringing higher risks of transmission. When infection rates drop, we will review the total amount of dancers that we accept for any event.
We ask dancers to pay on line in advance. We do not wish to handle money at the door, to mitigate surface transmission and to prevent groups forming "at the door".
Although there is no longer any requirement for "test and trace". We will continue to hold personal data on everyone who books and attend our events. Our Tango community needs to have confidence that we have some knowledge of who attends our events. We like to have the confidence to be able to send out a text at short notice if we wish to inform you of an event cancellation. We are registered with the Information Commissioners Office as part of Data Protection.
Fixed partners/changing partners? We are now accepting single dancers to book. We are giving the option for dancers to stay in a fixed bubble or to Cabeceo each other. For ease, we have introduced wristbands for dancers who wish to change partners.
Masks? Any dancer is welcomed to wear their mask at all times. We are only asking dancers to wear masks when entering and exiting our Dance Hall, and when walking generally to access facilities such as the licensee bar or toilet. Dancers are free to remove their masks when seated or when dancing.
Social distancing? Again the Government has given us the responsibility on this. We think dancers will continue with caution and use common sense on how they communicate with each other. eg talk side by side rather than close up face to face. Stand near open ventilation. Or talk whilst wearing masks. It would be helpful for people to use the “line of dance” route for moving around the Hall …whether dancing or just moving to another part of the venue.
Fixed seating. We ask dancers to choose a seat/table for each event, and refrain from changing their seat for any particular event. We aim to provide everyone with their own unique chair, with access to their table.. There will be a minimum of soft decorations or table clothes to minimise transmission and allow surface cleaning.
As aerosol transmission is recognised as the main cause of the spread of COVID-19, we will be particularly mindful of having good air circulation with as much fresh air as possible. So ask dancers to dress appropriately.
Reduce surface transmission. We will clean the Hall, tables etc prior every event. Please use hand sanitisers frequently. Always when you arrive. Refrain from touching surfaces unnecessarily.
Food & drink. To minimize transmission we ask dancers to bring their own nibbles & drinks, for their own consumption only. Alternatively, we have table service procedures for our licensed bar personal to take drink orders at your table. Please pay by card.
Classes - teachers or facilitators will wear head mics and take the class from the stage to avoid droplet transmission when giving instruction.
Floor etiquette. Good floor etiquette is a valuable skill in social dancing. However, it is also a safer way for a healthier dance environment. We ask dancers to give space between each couple, not to overtake or undertake, or to make a second dance line. With us capping the maximum amount of dancers in the Hall, it should be easy to form good habits. .
